Duke Snider was an American professional baseball player. He was a Major League Baseball (MLB) center fielder, who spent most of his career playing for the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers. He was also nicknamed “The Silver Fox” and “The Duke of Flatbush.”

Duke was the son of Florence May and Ward Clarence Snider. He was married to Beverly Null, with whom he had four children.

Duke’s paternal grandfather was Clarence Snider (the son of Ezra Snider and Eva A. Weimer). Ezra was born in Ohio, the son of Samuel Snider and Malinda. Eva was born in Ohio, the daughter of German parents, Jacob Weimer and Elizabeth Fenrick.

Duke’s paternal grandmother was Helen Vesta Smith (the daughter of Adolphus Henry Smith and Sarah Jane Shellabarger). Adolphus and Sarah were from Ohio. Adolphus was the son of Adolphus Henry Smith. Sarah was the daughter of Reuben Shellabarger and Elizabeth Baker.

Duke’s maternal grandfather was Oscar Bennett Johnson (the son of Albert Ross Johnson and Mary C. Smith). Albert was born in Ohio, the son of Benjamin Johnson and Elizabeth Sarah Gillespie. Mary was born in Ohio, the daughter of John M. Smith and Elizabeth Catherine Zedeker.

Duke’s maternal grandmother was Julia Esther Smith (the daughter of John Alexander Smith and Mary Belle Glenn). John was born in Kansas, the son of William Frank Smith and Letitia Giles. Mary was born in Kansas, the daughter of James N. Glenn and Mary E. Coates.
