Dominic West is a British actor, director, mechanic, and musician.
His mother, Pauline Mary “Moya,” was of seven eighths Irish and one eighth English descent. His father, Thomas George Eagleton West, was of half English and half Irish ancestry. Dominic attended Eton College.
Dominic is a first cousin, once removed, of American politician Thomas Eagleton (Thomas Francis Eagleton), who was the 1972 Democratic nominee for Vice President of the United States (before withdrawing from the campaign). Dominic’s paternal great-grandparents, Thomas Francis Eagleton and Mary Theresa Hennelly, were also politician Thomas Eagleton’s paternal grandparents.
Dominic is married to film producer Catherine FitzGerald. He has a daughter with his former partner Polly Astor; and four children with Catherine. Catherine is the daughter of author and hereditary knight Desmond FitzGerald, 29th Knight of Glin, and Polly is the daughter of politician Michael Astor.
Dominic’s paternal grandfather was Harold Ernest Georges West (the son of George Howard West and Sarah Ann Webb). Harold was born in Chelmsford, Essex, England, to English parents. George was the son of John Ward West and Betsey Hargrave.
Dominic’s paternal grandmother was Winifred Mary Eagleton (the daughter of Thomas Francis Eagleton and Mary Theresa Hennelly). Winifred was born in Audrain, Missouri, U.S., to Irish parents. Thomas was the son of John Eagleton and Winifred Hennelly. Mary was the daughter of Patrick Hennelly.

kinda misleading picture, he is actually quite pale and his eyes are also lighter
I just googled him and all the pics are just as swarthy or slightly less swarthy if anything and his eyes look the same in all pictures so idk what you’re on about, he’s far from being pale his skin has a natural warmth
I was sure he was an ethnic Jew or partially North African. Truthfully, I think either he doesn’t know his full history or he’s hiding it.
There are lots of Irish with dark skin and curly hair. Whether it’s a throw back to the Celts, or it’s from the Spanish that apparently went in there a few hundred years ago, I don’t know.
So where do you originate from – Africa, Arabia, Asia or Siberia?

Another Irish person that looks like a Moor or Berber fresh off the boat. The irish just love to mix dont they?
Some comments are just silly. Here is a google search for Berber people.

@Alice
Alright Alice, showing some diversity up there
Jesus, what? This man look absolutely nothing like a Berber or a ‘moor’ (which btw, just means muslim and muslims can look like anyone). He’s just look like a normal person from the British Isles. Not strange, not ‘mixed’, not unusual. Anything other than this is just plain ignorance.
Normal person from the British Isles? Really? Sorry, but the average Anglo-Saxon person have light features. They range from Tom Cruise looking to Brad Pitt. That’s the normal look.
Mate, people who have this swarthy look would get racism from the other Anglo-Celtics for their dark curly, ethnic hair and olive skin. They can easily be perceived as Arabs and be looked down upon. Hell, those with a Neo-Nazi culture wouldn’t count him as white man.
Domanic West, at least in that pic, easily passes a Palestinian Jew or a Lebanese/Levantine. And just by looking at pic, I’d confidently cast him as Moses or any other Jewish biblical figure, rather than historic English or Irish figures — Who looked nothing like this.
phaedra you’re making that up. No one would think anything odd about Dominic West’s looks. It is easy to see he is fully European.

Some very silly comments. People do exaggerate.
Yes, he looks European per se. And he’s good looking too, btw. But he is hardly Celtic looking. He looks Southern European, Serb/Croatian or at least Armenian/Georgian. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. And I’m not sure why this is silly to you.
In short, he isn’t “typically” Celtic looking, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t dark Celts. Same thing could be said about blondes in Southern Europe and the Middle east. Yes, there are a few blondies there, doesn’t mean they are a “typical” look there. Get it?
@phaedra
He does look British and nothing like the ethnicities you have a fetish for. He reminds me of rugby coach Andy Farrell.
@Andrew
Coming from the pitiful clown who thinks Greeks and Italians look like Nordics, and has fetish for “blonde” Sicilians (Lol) – Your projecting is getting banal.
Everybody in here thinks that you’re ridiculous. Just give up already.
I never claimed that, you just have weird ideas about people of European descent, filled with stupid stereotypes.
He looks part black.
Is it because of his hair? People are so naive.
Part black? I have never seen a “part black” man who looks like him and I come from a family who are all mix and white on Paternal Grandfather’s side.
@cwm
You’ve never seen a part black person who looked white. You haven’t seen a quadroon or a octoroon person before? Then what about our American mulattoes like

@Greyface
First, I didn’t cherry pick anyone. Those individuals are famous, and they didn’t hide their backgrounds. Here go some others who don’t hide

Like most, you probably have very little experience with mulattoes. Some look completely Black, some look completely white or Asian , with the rest looking mixed. Then you have all the millions of quadroons and so on. White looking ones in past for sure didn’t tell people the were mixed. This woman here Dona Drake let everyone think she was mexican:

correction: they were mixed
In that photo he, quite strangely, looks Maori (native New Zealander)…
He is a bit too ‘scruffy’ and dark for an Anglo-Celtic. I’d understand Rowan Atkinson, Ryan Reynolds, Sean Connery and Ben Affleck, but this guy too Mediterranean looking.
Maybe he just loves to tan himself, but I don’t think I would ever see an Irish local (in Ireland) with this look. Even Colin Farrel is Irish looking in comparison…
He’s a cute guy btw.
This is Thomas Eagleton, Dominic’s first cousin, once removed.

Interesting. They also kinda lookalike and he is also rather dark.
I find it riveting how I’m discovering a lot of dark featured Irish/English people in here. I even made jokes on non-Irish dark people like Arianna Grande saying “they’re probably Irish”. Lol…
In Australia, where I live, most of our Anglo-Celtics are pretty much light eyed and close to blonde (Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett, Chris Hemsworth, etc). It’s strange how those in the UK are darker…Did the lighter folks of Brits and Ireland move to Australia? I don’t know… :/
There are still plenty of light eyed/hair English folk. You can’t just assume a country is “Darker” based on a few celebrities…
