Diallo’s parents were African-American. His father was sculptor and painter John Thomas Riddle, Jr.

Diallo’s paternal grandfather was John Thomas Riddle (the son of The Rev. John Morton “JM” Riddle and Sarah Alice Preston). Diallo’s grandfather John was born in Ohio. Diallo’s great-grandfather The Rev. John was born in Virginia, the son of Henry Riddle and Susan R. Boatwright/Deane. Sarah was born in Ohio, the daughter of Thomas Preston and Julia Shepherd.

Diallo’s paternal grandmother was Helen Louise Wheeler (the daughter of George Wheeler and Emma Lotta Allen). Helen was born in Indiana, and was the first black female graduate of the University of Southern California’s Law School. George was born in Kentucky. Emma was born in Indiana, the daughter of Nathan Allen and Mary Ann McCaw.
