Deepika Padukone is an Indian film actress and model. In the west, she co-starred in the film XXX: Return of Xander Cage.

Deepika was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, to Mangalorean Konkani-speaking Indian parents. Her father, Prakash Padukone, is a former badminton player of international repute. Her mother, Ujjala, is a travel agent. The family relocated to Bangalore, India, when Padukone was a year old. Deepika is married to actor Ranveer Singh.

Deepika’s paternal grandfather, Ramesh, was a secretary of the Mysore Badminton Association.

Deepika has ancestry from the Chitrapur Saraswat Brahmin community.
