Cooper Hoffman is an American actor. He plays the lead role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Licorice Pizza, and has also appeared in the film Wildcat (2023).
Cooper is the son of costume designer Mimi O’Donnell and actor Philip Seymour Hoffman. His uncle, Gordy Hoffman, is a screenwriter and director.
Cooper’s paternal grandfather is Gordon Stowell Hoffman, who worked for Xerox (the son of Gordon Orville Hoffman and Geraldine J. Stowell). Cooper’s grandfather Gordon was born in New York. Cooper’s great-grandfather Gordon was the son of Orville Hoffman, whose parents were German, and of Fannie M. Phillips. Geraldine was the daughter of Charles Henry Stowell and Lulu Grant Humes, and her ancestry included English and Dutch.
Cooper’s paternal grandmother is Marilyn O’Connor (née Loucks), a lawyer and family court judge (the daughter of Seymour N. Loucks and Helen Louise O’Conner/O’Connor). Cooper’s great-grandfather Seymour was the son of Avery Moses Loucks and Nellie E. Darling. The Loucks family in New York appears to originate with either Dutch or German immigrants.
