Christopher Cross is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and composer.

He is the son of Edith and Leo Geppert. His father was born in South Dakota, of half German and half Irish descent, and was a physician for Dwight D. Eisenhower’s grandchildren. Christopher’s mother was a German Jewish immigrant, who moved to the U.S. in 1923. Christopher has one child with his former wife Roseanne Harrison; and two children with his former wife Jan Bunch.

Christopher’s paternal grandfather was Charles Henry Geppert (the son of Adolph Albert Geppert and Emma Feist). Charles was born in South Dakota, to German emigrants, from Baden.

Christopher’s paternal grandmother was Mathilda O’Connor (the daughter of Thomas O’Connor and Catherine/Catharine Teresa Doud). Mathilda was born in South Dakota. Thomas was born in Kerry, Ireland, the son of Jerry O’Connor and Mary Ann O’Sullivan. Catherine was born in Iowa, the daughter of Irish parents, John Doud and Mary.

Christopher’s maternal grandfather was named Samuel Guderman (the son of Rubin Guderman). Samuel was a Polish Jewish emigrant, from Warsaw.

Christopher’s maternal grandmother was named Martha Kassung (the daughter of Joseph Kassung). Martha was a German Jewish immigrant.
