Here is the findagrave entry for Holland’s adopted daughter’s son, Milton Frederick “Jack” Rowe, who died in 1965.

He married a white woman (Sophie Cecelia Considine). As you can see from that first link, Milton Rowe was listed as “mulatto” initially but went over into “white” by 1920.
“Drob” is can be Slavic name. It came from the russian verb “drobit” (crush). Drob surname is based on the common noun “drobina” – “the ball of weapons shot.” Apparently, the ancestor of person by that name was a hunter. There is another option: Drob nickname could call a short man.
Not all exactly Russian surname ends on -ov or -in, they are the most common, there a lot others.
The only Drobs I can find are of either Ashkenazi Jewish, German, or Polish, descent. I am not sure if there are any people of non-Jewish Russian descent with the surname, although anything is possible.
