Art Alexakis is an American singer and composer. He is the singer, songwriter, and guitarist of rock band Everclear.

He was raised by his mother in Mar Vista Gardens, California. His paternal grandparents were Greek immigrants.

Art’s paternal grandfather was named Elias Alexakis, later Louis Apostolus Alexakis.

Art’s paternal grandmother was named Vaseleke/Vassikley “Bessie” Kehos.

Art’s maternal grandfather was Emmett/Emmitt Floyd Vess (the son of Pinkney Elcanah Vess and Cora Nevada Moffitt). Emmitt was born in North Carolina. Pinkney was the son of Andrew Logan “Andy” Vess and Lucy Malinda “Linna”/Lindy Halford. Cora was the daughter of The Rev. James Ivy Moffitt and Nancy E. Murphy.
