I really do not believe Anthony Rizzo is ethnically Polish. His great-grandmother Helen Gorski (1916-1998) was the daughter of John Gorski and Elizabeth Novak who were both Austrian immigrants. I checked records to confirm it.
“John Gorski”. “Elizabeth Novak”. Why do you not think these people were Polish? What else should they have been?
I said in my last post they were Austrian. It’s not someones random family tree these are ancestry documents confirming they were Austrian.
Could have been changed from “Garski” German surname or Gorski can be Ashkenazi as well.
Yeah, I could be the queen of England.
Unless you have some kind of proof that they weren’t Austrians of Polish descent, then it’s just that, your “thought.”
John Gorski’s federal census lists him as being from Austria? My “thought” really? you really are the biggest, most obnoxious troll on this website. stfu
To be born in Austria on censuses doesn’t always imply Austrian ancestry. Remember that Austria had an empire; many minorities who immigrated listed themselves as Austrian-born, since that was the country at that point. There are countless of Slovaks, Poles, Ukrainians, Hungarians etc. that are listed as born in Austria.
In this case, both of them have obvious Slavic surnames, so I doubt they were Austrian.
I don’t know where John popped up. Her father was Albert Gorski.

Though, for some reason, he’s George on 1930 census, but then Albert on 1940.

And they’re both from Poland, on both censi.
Elizabeth’s husband is named as George A. Gorski in her obituary. I guess Albert was his middle name
