Amy is the daughter of Helen and Michael Locane. The surname Locane is Italian. Amy graduated from Villa Victoria Academy, a Catholic private high school in Ewing Township, New Jersey. She has two children with her former husband, businessperson Mark Bovenizer.

Amy’s paternal grandfather was named Samuel A. Locane (the son of Pasquale Locane and Mary). Samuel was born in New Jersey, to Italian parents.
