Alton B. Parker was an American judge and politician. He served as Chief Judge of the New York Court of Appeals, from January 1, 1898 to August 5, 1904.
He was the Democratic Party’s nominee for President of the United States in 1904.
Alton was born in Cortland in upstate New York, the son of Harriet F. (Stratton) and John Brooks Parker, a farmer. He was married to Mary Louise Schoonmaker, until her death, and then to Amy Day Campbell, until his death. He had two children with Mary Louise.
Alton’s paternal grandfather was John Parker (the son of John Parker and Olive Temple). Alton’s grandfather John was born in Massachusetts. Alton’s great-grandfather John was the son of John Parker. Olive was the daughter of Jonas Temple and Olive Keyes.
