She is descended from Stephanus Van Cortlandt, the first native-born Mayor of New York, who served from 1677 to 1678.

Do you have any information or leads on the mother of Nancy Sadleir Bruere? I know she was called either Anne or Nancy Sadleir and married William Bruere in India in 1782. Anne is possibly her birth name and Nancy her preferred name, but I can’t find her place of birth or her parentage under either name.
One tree lists Nancy’s father as Holbeche Sadleir. Other than that, I don’t know.
Thanks. The Holbache Sadleir and his wife I found were too old to be her father. He could have remarried maybe, or had a son also named Holbache, who was her father.
I was probably right about being born Anne but known as Nancy. This probably relates to her:

She’s referred to as Anne in this Wikipedia article, but as Nancy in all of those trees, as well as the marriage record.

“too old to be her father” should read “too old to be her parents.” Editing error.
There’s some confusion as to whether the surname is Sadleir or Sadlier, with evidence for both spellings. I think her father may possibly have been Anthony Sadleir (also with disputed spelling), Chief at Masulipatam, because I can’t find any other prominent Sadleirs (or Sadliers) in India. He’s another genealogical dead end, though, and I don’t know whom he married.
