Bailey Howell is an American professional basketball player. A small forward, he played for the Detroit Pistons and the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1997.

Bailey is the son of Martha and Walter Howell.

Bailey’s paternal grandfather was Luther Burleson Howell (the son of David Crawford Howell and Nancy Jane Jones). David was born in North Carolina, the son of William Rigdon Howell and Ann Fulgham. Nancy was born in Tennessee, the daughter of Calvin M. Jones and Mary Mashburn.

Bailey’s paternal grandmother was Lula Parmelia Jacobs (the daughter of James Madison Jacobs and Parmelia Harris). James was born in Tennessee, the son of William Richard Jacobs and Sarah Bass. Parmelia was born in Tennessee, the daughter of Samuel B. Harris, Jr. and Axie Lee Elkins.

Bailey’s maternal grandfather was Neely Wesley Pirtle (the son of John Barnett Pirtle, Jr. and Susan Jane Priest). John was born in Tennessee, the son of John Barnett Pirtle and Roseanne Peters. Susan was born in Tennessee, the daughter of John H. Priest and Mary Ann Mercer.

Bailey’s maternal grandmother was Lillie Van Vernon (the daughter of Andrew Jackson Vernon and Indiana Brent Blackburn). Andrew was born in Tennessee, the son of Robert Hicks Vernon and Nancy Chisum. Indiana was the daughter of Sarah Brooks.
