Marina and the Diamonds, also known as Marina Diamandis and Marina, is a Welsh singer and songwriter.
Her father, Dimos Diamandis, is Greek, from Lefkada. Her mother, Esther, is Welsh. She was raised in Abergavenny, Wales, and moved to Athens, Greece at the age of sixteen, where she lived for two years. She eventually settled in Ross-on-Wye, England.
Marina’s maternal grandfather’s surname is Davies.
Wondering if her father has Vlach ancestry with such Latin-sounding name.

Romanians aren’t Latins they’re totally Slavs they have nothing of Latins I’m a real Latin from Europe, Italian from Italy, not Usa, here we’re plenty of them and they’re the opposite of us as race, mentality, culture, language. Latins are only we Italians, French, Spaniards and Portuguese.
Just cause Romanian language has part of Latin don’t means they’re Latin, German language has it a part too but Germans are totally different in every ways.
Latin language the one spoken by Romans has part of Greek language so again you’re wrong the surname Diamandis is fully Greek.
From Wikipedia:
”The most divergent [major Romance language] to Latin is French, which was heavily influenced by Germanic languages.”
So, people named after a Germanic tribe, that speak a language heavily influenced by German, are more Latin than people named after Romans?
Aside from that, Aromanian is mostly influenced by Greek, not Slavic languages.
And to andrew’s question, I don’t think there are any Aromanians on the islands.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA the Anglo version of net is so comical !
French people as language and culture have nothing of Germanic if you’ll study real French language and real French culture you’ll know that they speak a Latin language and their culture is Latin. French come from Latins NOT from Germanics, being myself a Latin I can understand French enough cause it’s related to Italian like it is to Portuguese and Spanish, and know French culture I say it’s like the others Latins not like German and Austrian totally different to their own.
You’re proving you don’t know anything of French typically of the non Euro like you who live outside reality.
Aaaaaaah you ——– —- muricans who don’t know nothing about the world but who always do the professors.
Anglos and other uneducated folks always get confused between Latins and Latinos who are two totally different races, the first are Euros living in Europe the second Hispanics, Central and Southern Americans who talk Spanish and have Spanish culture heavily mixed to Afro, Amerindian and other Euros.

Also, I’ve never set foot in the US.
All the things you’re saying are totally false you don’t know Romanians too they’re totally Slavs they have zero of Greek.
Hahaha you’re a clown !
The links you post are rubbish the Anglo version not the truth, the altered info you find in English in other countries don’t exist.
The Anglo education is a scumcrap don’t believe in it.
They’re the same who say Arabs and Hispanics are white and nordic hahaha gosh net is a nuthouse.
@bablah
This is interesting, but to say French is “heavily” influenced by German is way over the top. Certainly the Barbaric tribes left something, also in Italian vocabulary (where you find the equivalent of many of those Frankish-originated words)
10% of French words derive from just Frankish (not including any other Germanic languages).
And yes, Germanic words do add to some mutual inteligibility between western Romance languages, but them using blanche/bianco/blanco/branco in contrast to Romanian using alb, doesn’t make Romanian less Latin, if it’s the only one using a word that’s actually Latin in origin.
@porkarella
I inform you that you went completely off-topic. Nobody here started something about Romanians, but I asked about this: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vlachs
It may be confusing for you, but give a try.
