Aksenia/Aksinia/Uzenia Petrovna Saprikin/Sapriken was born in Altai Republic, Russia.
Do you know any way of determining the ethnicity of these people who were born in the ethnic republics of Russia? Was this woman ethnic Altai or ethnic Russian?
Some of ethnic minorites have their own names, like Tatars, Bashkirs or Caucasians nations, so you can determining their origin just by that. Asian people, like Yakuts, Buryats, Altai people, ect. have as their own names as well as Russified names, so you can find Sergei Ivanov, Nadezhda Sokolova among pure Yakuts, for example. So sometimes almost unreal to identify person just by his name, maybe religion can help.
Speaking specifically about Aksenia, I think she, as well as her husband, might be Doukhobors. At the end of 19th century about 8000 Doukhobors immigrated from Russia to Saskatchewan. I see a lot of Saprikens from Altai who immigrated at the same time to Canada. I think about 90% ethnic Russian immigrants to US/Canada before revolution, were Christian ethnoreligious groups as Doukhobors, Molokans, Old Believers.
Interesting. Doukhobors would be considered ethnic Russians, right?
Do you have an opinion on the wife of actor Ray Mala, Galina Theresa Liss? She was born in Kazan, Tatarstan, the daughter of Teodor Liss and Mary Bilkevish.

Yes, they are ethnic Russians, Christians, who reject the Russian Orthodox priesthood.
Yes, I found interesting stuff about Galina’s grandmother. Gonna write it in her profile.

Was Mary, Alex’s mother or step-mother? She was 17 when he was born, and he was said to be born in Russia while she was born in Saskatchewan.
Mary was his mother. On Picton’s family tree at “ancestry” her place of residence, besides Saskatchewan, listed as “Rostov”. Also their second child, 2 years after Allen, Peter, listed as ” born at sea”, likely on their back home from Russia to Canada.
