Peter Krause is an American film and television actor, director, and producer.

He is the son of Wanda and Bill Krause, who were teachers. Peter was raised in Roseville, a suburb of St. Paul, Minnesota. He has a son with his former partner Christine King.

Peter’s paternal grandfather was William George Krause (the son of John Julius Krause and Augusta E. “Gustie “Schumacher). William was born in Blue Earth, Minnesota, to Prussian German parents. John was born in Posen, the son of August Krause and Mary Katherine Steinke. Augusta was born in Pommern, the daughter of William Fredrick Schumacher and Elizabeth Lentz.

Peter’s paternal grandmother was Gertrude Louise Popham (the daughter of William Henry Popham and Pauline Grams). Gertrude was born in Blue Earth, Minnesota. William was born in Minnesota, to English parents, John Popham, from Highbridge, Somerset, and Hannah Rebecca Neath, from Burnham, Somersetshire. Pauline was born in Posen, Prussia, Germany, the daughter of Christoph/Christof Grams and Emilie Doege.

Peter’s maternal grandfather was Guy Orrin Johnson (the son of Hans O. Johnson and Anna/Anne Jensine Otterness). Guy was born in Hazel Run, Minnesota.
