Stephen Collins is an American actor, writer, director, and musician. He is known for his role on the series 7th Heaven.
Stephen is the son of Madeleine and Cyrus Stickney Collins. He has a daughter with his former wife, actress Faye Grant.
Stephen’s maternal great-great-grandfather was politician James B. Weaver, who was a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Iowa, from 1879 to 1881, and again, from 1885 to 1889; and who twice ran for President of the United States, in 1880, as the nominee of the Greenback Party, and in 1892, as the nominee of the Populist Party.
Stephen’s paternal grandfather was Frank Samuel Collins (the son of Cyrus Cass Collins and Anne/Anna Williamson). Frank was born in Illinois. Cyrus was the son of Samuel C. Collins and Marcia Cass. Anna was the daughter of John Williamson, who was born in County Monaghan, Ireland, and of Margaret Urith Uhl.
Stephen’s paternal grandmother was Margaret Gardner Stickney (the daughter of Edward Warren Stickney and Annie/Anne Gordon Grassie). Margaret was born in Wisconsin. Edward was born in Groveland, Essex, Massachusetts, the son of Niles Tilden Stickney and Eliza Hall George. Annie was the daughter of Thomas Gordon Grassie, who was born in Kildrummy, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, to a Scottish father and an English mother; and of Mary Elizabeth Holbrook.
Stephen’s maternal grandfather was Albert James Robertson (the son of Alexander Martin Robertson and Amy E. McDonald). Albert was born in Minnesota. Alexander was born in Clifton, Compton, Québec, Canada, the son of Scottish parents, James Kerr Robertson, from Glasgow, and Ellen Parke, from Ayr, Ayrshire. Amy was the daughter of Albert F. McDonald and Kittie Boswin.
Stephen’s maternal grandmother was Persis Fay Weaver (the daughter of James Bellamy Weaver and Fayette Mary “Fay” Atkins). Persis was born in Iowa. James was the son of James Baird Weaver and Clarrisa/Clara Vinson. Fayette was the daughter of Caleb Brooks Atkins and Mary Lucinda Stephenson.

Most of his traceable ancestors trace back to England. “Robertson” surname is often Scottish and “Collins” can be English, Irish or Welsh.
So I think “English, remote Dutch, possibly other” is more correct.
