He might also have French ancestry. Two of his ancestors had the surname colin I looked that up on message boards ancestry.com that surname is quite common in altacomulco where he was born. One of the posts said its quite common in Toluca, altacomulco and mexico city and puebla which is where the French took over (battle of Puebla)for all you history buffs the link is right here: http://boards.ancestry.com/thread.aspx?mv=flat&m=10&p=surnames.colin
he definitely isn’t fully Spanish, looks like he got some Native up in that boy
Castizo.
he may be genetically not 100% European but he can pass with any problem for a Spaniard, he even has recent Spanish ancestry.
To me he looks like a castizo, kinda like a less robust version of Oscar Dela Hoya, but I guess he could pass as a typical swarthy Med type.
*atypical
his pigmentation would be very average in Spain, he’s not swarthy at all. I think he has some Native ancestry but quite diluited.
So far, no non-Spanish ancestors have been verified yet. But if you can trace beyond his Mexican ancestors, that will be better to determine the caste.
Severiano Peña and ? Arcos -> Severiano Peña López and Juana Arcos Colin
