Felipe Calderón is a Mexican politician. He served as President of Mexico, from December 1, 2006 to November 30, 2012. He was also President of the National Action Party, from 9 March, 1996 to 9 March, 1999, and Secretary of Energy, from 2 September, 2003 to 1 June, 2004, among other duties.

President Calderón is the son of politician and writer José Luis Calderón Vega and Maria Carmen Hinojosa González. He is married to lawyer and politician Margarita Esther Zavala Gómez del Campo, with whom he has three children.

President Calderón’s patrilineal ancestry can be traced back to his third great-grandfather, Juan Antonio Gil Calderón.

President Calderón’s paternal grandfather was Luis Gonzaga Paulino Reimundo Calderón Ochoa (the son of José Primitivo Calderón Arriaga and Margarita de los Dolores Ochoa Ballesteros). Luis was born in Atapaneo, Morelia, Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico. Primitivo was the son of Pedro José Antonio de la Cruz Calderón Chávez and María Luisa Arriaga Carabantes.
