Bethenny is the daughter of Robert Julian Frankel, a famed horse trainer, and Bernadette Birk. She has a daughter with her former husband, pharmaceutical sales executive Jason Hoppy.

Bethenny’s paternal grandfather was named Merrill Frankel.

Bethenny’s paternal grandmother was named Gertrude.

According to Bethenny’s biography, her mother’s family was from Wales, and they lived in shacks and raised pigeons there. Bethenny’s mother converted to Judaism.
