Anne Rice was an American author. She is known for her series of novels The Vampire Chronicles, and for writing gothic fiction, Christian literature, and erotica. She was also credited as Anne Rampling and A. N. Roquelaure. Her works include the novels Interview with the Vampire, Queen of the Damned, The Mummy, and The Feast of All Saints.

Anne was the daughter of Katherine Rita “Kay” (Allen) and Howard J. O’Brien, who authored a novel, The Impulsive Imp. She was named after her father. Her sister was fantasy, horror, and historical author Alice Borchardt. She was married to poet and artist Stan Rice, until his death, with whom she had two children, including author Christopher Rice. Her cousin was cinematographer Allen Daviau.

Anne’s paternal grandfather was Michael John Joseph Samual/Samuel O’Brien (the son of Thomas O’Brien and Mary A. Duggan). Michael was born in Louisiana.

Anne’s paternal grandmother was Bertha Agnes Curry (the daughter of James Andrew Curry and Josephine Becker). Bertha was born in Louisiana. James was the son of Irish parents, Thomas Curry and Elizabeth. Josephine was the daughter of Valentin/Valentine Becker, who was born in Rheinpfalz, Bavaria, Germany, and of Josephine Dameron, who was the daughter of immigrant parents, who were likely ethnic Germans from France.

Anne’s maternal grandfather was Richard A. Allen (the son of John Allen and Jane/Ann Hughes). Richard was born in Louisiana, to Irish parents.

Anne’s maternal grandmother was Alice Agnes O’Connell/Connell (the daughter of Edward Connell and Mary Dwyer). Alice was born in Louisiana, to Irish parents.
