Ty Cobb was an American professional baseball player. He was an outfield in the MLB. He was nicknamed “The Georgia Peach.”

He was the son of Amanda C. and William Herschel Cobb, a state senator. Ty had five children with his first wife Charlotte Marion “Charlie” Lombard.

He was said to have been a distant cousin of professional baseball player Johnny Mize.

Ty’s paternal grandfather was John Franklin Cobb (the son of William Alfred Cobb and Charlotte Henson). John was born in North Carolina. William was the son of John Paul Cobb and Lydia Keys. Charlotte was the daughter of Daniel H. Henson and Eleanor Fariba Pool/Poole.

Ty’s paternal grandmother was Sarah Ann Elizabeth Waldroup (the daughter of William Moses Waldroup and Mary Leatherwood). Sarah was born in North Carolina.

Ty’s maternal grandfather was Caleb Chitwood (the son of Stephen Griffith and Phoebe/Pheobe/Phebe Chitwood). Caleb was born in Georgia. Stephen was the son of Caleb Griffith and Juliann Little. Phoebe was the daughter of William C. Chitwood and Keziah Maxwell, or of Daniel Chitwood and Elizabeth Richardson.

Ty’s maternal grandmother was Sisley/Sicily C. Mize (the daughter of Thomas Mize and Martha Lavinia Cape). Sisley was born in Georgia. Thomas was the son of Jeremiah Mize and Nancy Bailey. Martha was the daughter of Thomas Francis Marion Cape and Elinor D. Thomas.
