Stanley Bruce was an Australian politician. He served as Prime Minister of Australia, from 9 February, 1923 to 22 October, 1929. He was also Treasurer of Australia, from 21 December, 1921 to 8 February, 1923, and Leader of the Nationalist Party, from 9 February, 1923 to 22 October, 1929, among other duties.

Prime Minister Bruce was the son of Mary Ann (Henderson) and John Munro Bruce, a businessperson. His father was born in Brooklawn, County Leitram, Ireland. His mother was born in County Longford, Ireland. All of his grandparents were Scottish.

Prime Minister Bruce’s parents were first cousins of one another; his grandmothers, Mary and Jessie Munro, were sisters.

Prime Minister Bruce’s paternal grandfather was George Williamson Bruce (the son of William Bruce and Ann Williamson). William was the son of Alexander Bruce and Janet Gail. Ann was the daughter of George Williamson.

Prime Minister Bruce’s paternal grandmother was Mary Munro (the daughter of John Munro and Ann McLeod Braid). John was the son of James Munro and Ann Taylor. Prime Minister Bruce’s great-grandmother Ann was the daughter of John Braid and Katherine Porterfield.

Prime Minister Bruce’s maternal grandfather was James Henderson (the son of James Henderson and Bridget).

Prime Minister Bruce’s paternal grandmother was Jessie Munro (the daughter of John Munro and Ann McLeod Braid). John was the son of James Munro and Ann Taylor. Prime Minister Bruce’s great-grandmother Ann was the daughter of John Braid and Katherine Porterfield.
