  2. Um says:

First yeah she is Mexican. Her last name is GOMEZ you should of known right then and there that’s NO white person’s last name. You wish she was full white but she’s not. Her daddy is Mexican. Her mother is Italian. I swear people need to look up the race before they speak. Even on her Facebook she has Mexican family on there. Get over it lol. It’s a done, sealed deal.

    • Melanie Lombardi says:

Gomez can absolutely be a white persons surname. Most of surnames Mexicans have are influenced by their Spanish ancestors. Go to Spain and they have the same common last names; Lopez, Gomez, Rodriguez etc. Unless you consider Spainards not white, then yes there is no white people with Gomez as a last name. But I, since Spain is in Europe consider them white. No to mention also people in Portugal and the Phillipines sometimes have Spanish last names.

      • RE: Melanie Lombardi says:

Yeah of course. But if her dad is Mexican and mother Italian what does that make her? Answer this one question!

        • Melanie Lombardi says:

I don’t understand your question. That would make her mixed? More so Mexican since her mom is half Italiand English, making Selena a quarter Italian.

          • Here's Selena's Mexican Dad says:

Right! So that does not make her full white. That makes her mixed with Mexican since her dad is Mexican. Just like if your dad is white and mother is Italian you would be white and Italian. Simple as it goes.

          • Melanie Lombardi says:

I wasn’t saying she wasn’t white. I was referring to you saying white people don’t have last names like Gomez. Hence what I said in my other post.

          • Here's Selena's Mexican Dad says:

I was saying she is basically Mexican. And ok. But I’m saying like american white people don’t have names like Gomez.

          • Anna says:

Actually, it wouldn’t be white and italian, it would be just white because whites are of European descent and Italy (Italian people) is in Europe. Just saying.

          • RE: ANNA says:

Yeah. I was using it as example lol.

          • ghgdgh says:

      • Ander Heuga says:

Melanie, the last name Gomez can absolutely be a White last name. It’s origin is Spanish (from Spain, a White nation). However, I must disagree with your assertion that Mexican last names have anything to do with any Spanish “ancestors”. Whenever the Spaniards colonized any place, they changed the local people’s name to Spanish names. This was usually done either when they were baptized (they were given a Christian – i.e. Spanish – name), or to a lesser extent they were given the name of their “encomendero” (a local Spanish landlord that was assigned land and Indians with which to exploit the land) or through a variety of other ways. For example, Filipinos also have Spanish last names, yet they are racially Asians. People of Equatorial Guinea (in Africa), also have spanish last names, yet they are racially Black. Some Latin Americans have Spanish ancestors but these are a small minority. Depsite whatever Latin American countries official statistics might say about “mestizos” (people of mixed Spanish and Indian ancestry), most Mexicans, Central Americans, etc. are actually purely American-Indian by race, but are simply hispanicized by culture. The term “mestizo” is nowadays applied to anyone who speaks Spanish or is westernized in culture, with “Indian” being reserved for people who live in tribes or speak indigenous languages such as Nahuatl, or Mixteco. This causes very misleading statistics, but no one seems willing to correct this for a variety of reasons. Firstly, because Latinos often show shame for their indigenous ancestry and prefer to emphasize Spanish ancestry (White ancestry is considered more presitigous in Latin America), and also because the politicians of Latin America prefer to forge a national identitity and disregard race. Hope I helped out.

I responded to your post a bit further down Melanie. Sorry for the confusion.

    • Katz says:

“Her last name is GOMEZ you should of known right then and there that’s NO white person’s last name.”

Wtf. Gomez is a Spanish name. From Spain. Which is in Europe.

  3. Ann says:

She’s Latina, now let’s move on.

  4. DUMB ASSES says:

People are so fucking stupid. If her DAD is Mexican. & Her Mother is Italian What the fuck does that make her. WHY is this such a discussion on her race? She’s Mexican and Italian and English. Give it up you stupid fucks.
