Roger is the son of Kathleen and The Rev. William Sydney Allam, a rector at St Mary Woolnoth. He is married to actress and writer Rebecca Saire, with whom he has two children, including actor William Allam.

Roger’s paternal grandfather was Sidney Allam (the son of Jonathan Thomas Allam and Esther Phebe Ann Redgewell). Sidney was born in Fulham, Middlesex. Jonathan was the son of Isaac Allam and Rose Emma Cross.
