Ritchie Blackmore is an English guitarist and songwriter. He was a founding member of rock band Deep Purple. He is known for his jam-style hard rock music, mixing guitar riffs and organ sound. He is nicknamed The Man in Black.
Ritchie is the son of Violet and Lewis John Blackmore. He is married to American vocalist and musician Candice Night. He has a son with his former wife Margit Volkmar; and two children with Candice.
Ritchie’s paternal grandfather was Silas Blackmore (the son of Benjamin Blackmore and Elizabeth). Silas was born in Bedwellty, Monmouthshire, Wales, to an English father, from Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire. Benjamin was the son of George Blackmore and Mary Ann Deverell.
Ritchie’s paternal grandmother was Eleanor Darby (the daughter of Watkin Darby and Catherine Roberts). Eleanor was from Aberdare, Glamorganshire, Wales. Watkin was the son of John Darby.
Ritchie’s maternal grandfather was Edward Joseph Short (the son of Thomas Henry Short and Anice Maria Moss). Edward was born in Almondsbury, Gloucestershire, England. Thomas was the son of Charles Short. Anice was the daughter of Thomas Moss and Peninnah Probert.
Ritchie’s maternal grandmother was Daisy Kate Moon (the daughter of William George Moon and Mary Farmloe). William was the son of Alfred Moon and Charlotte Beauchamp. Mary was the daughter of George Farmlow.
