Ray Milland was a Welsh-American actor and film director. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for The Lost Weekend (1945). His roles also include the films The Flying Scotsman (1929), Three Smart Girls, The Jungle Princess, Easy Living, Beau Geste, Reap the Wild Wind, The Major and the Minor, The Uninvited (1944), Ministry of Fear, The Big Clock, The Thief (1952), Dial M for Murder, Love Story, and Frogs. He directed the films A Man Alone, Lisbon, The Safecracker, Panic in Year Zero!, and Hostile Witness, all of which he starred in, and episodes of General Electric Theater.

Ray was the son of Elizabeth Annie (Truscott) and Alfred Jones, a steel mill superintendent. He became a U.S. citizen in the 1940s. He was married to Muriel Weber, until his death, with whom he had two children.

Ray’s paternal grandfather was named James Jones. James was born in Llanley, Breconshire.

Ray’s paternal grandmother was Sarah Ann Lewis (the daughter of William Lewis and Harriet Tillet). Sarah was born in Goytrey, Monmouth.
