She is the half-sister of graphic artist, musician, and composer Shubhendra Shankar and sitar player and composer Anoushka Shankar.

Norah has two children with her husband.

Norah’s paternal grandparents were named Shyam Shankar and Hemangini Devi.

Norah’s maternal grandfather was named Delwin Edward Jones. Delwin was born in Oklahoma.
