Nick Drake was an English singer, songwriter, and musician.

Nick was the son of Molly Drake (born Mary Lloyd), a poet and musician, and Rodney Shuttleworth Drake, an engineer. His sister is actress Gabrielle Drake. Nick’s parents met in Burma, while his father was working with the Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation. His mother was born in Rangoon, Burma, where her parents were working with the Indian Civil Service. In the early 1950s, Nick moved with his family to Tanworth-in-Arden, Warwickshire, England.

Nick’s paternal grandfather was Ernest Charles Drake (the son of Charles Henry Drake and Sarah Louisa Brown). Ernest was born in Brixton Hill, London.

Nick’s paternal grandmother was Alice Violet Gregson (the daughter of Robert Shuttleworth Gregson and Alice Metcalfe/Metcalf). Nick’s grandmother Alice was born in St Johns Wood, London.

Nick’s maternal grandfather was Sir Idwal Geoffrey Lloyd (the son of John Lloyd and Mary Esther Southworth). Sid Idwal was born in Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire, England. Nick’s great-grandfather John was born in Montgomeryshire, Wales, the son of Thomas Lloyd and Ann Rice/Rhees/Rhys. Mary was the daughter of James Southworth and Mary Tanner Townend.

Nick’s maternal grandmother was Georgette Helena “Georgie” Grant (the daughter of Charles Martin Grant).
