Max Verstappen is a Belgian-Dutch racing driver. He competes in Formula One, under the Dutch flag, for Red Bull Racing. He consecutively won three Formula One World Drivers’ Championship titles, from 2021 to 2023, for Red Bull. He competed in karting and single-seater, and was the youngest driver to compete in Formula One, in 2015. He won the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix, the youngest driver to win a Formula One Grand Prix. He holds several other records.

Max is the son of kart driver champion Sophie Kumpen and Formula One racing driver Jos Verstappen (Johannes Franciscus Verstappen). His father is Dutch, from Montfort. His mother is Belgian. He is a first cousin, once removed, of professional racing driver and team manager Anthony Kumpen. Max spent time growing up with his father in Maaseik, Netherlands.

Max’s paternal grandfather was Fransciscus Verstappen (the son of Johannes Franciscus Verstappen and Gertrudis Deben). Johannes was born in Helden, Peel en Maa, the son of Franciscus/Frans Hubertus Verstappen and Karolina Remmers. Gertrudis was the daughter of Servatius Hubertus Deben and Johanna Schaefer.

Max’s paternal grandmother was surnamed Lehnen.

Max’s maternal grandfather was Robert Kumpen (the son of Constant Arthur Kumpen and Marie José van Bergen). Robert was born in Hasselt, Limburg, Flanders, Belgium. Constant was the son of Leopold Kumpen and Constantia Gybels.

Max’s maternal grandmother was surnamed Orens.
