Martin McGuinness was an Irish politician and statesman. He was Leader of Sinn Féin in Northern Ireland, and Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland, both, from 8 May, 2007 to 9 January, 2017, and Minister of Education, from 2 December, 1999 to 14 October, 2002.
Martin’s father, William “Willie” McGuinness, was a foundry worker, also from Derry. Martin’s mother, Margaret Mary “Peggy,” was a shirt factory worker, from Donegal, Ireland. Martin was married to Bernadette Canning, with whom he had four children.
Martin’s paternal grandfather was Thomas McGuinness (the son of William McGuinness and Annie Doherty). Thomas was born in Derry.
Martin’s paternal grandmother was Mary Rooney (the daughter of Hugh Rooney and Alicia Campbell). Mary was born in Derry.

There are Irish Campbells. Maybe they were Scottish hundreds of years ago. I don’t know.
