Lola Flores was a Spanish singer, dancer, and actress.
Lola was the daughter of Pedro Flores Pinto and Rosario Ruiz Rodriguez. Her father was from La Palma del Condado, Huelva. Her mother was from Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Cádiz.
Lola is sometimes said to have had Romani ancestry through her maternal grandfather, often cited as Manuel. It is not clear if this is accurate. She is also described as having been of only Spanish descent.
Lola was married to Antonio González (born Antonio González Batista, the son of Antonio González and Antonia Batista), a dancer, musician, and composer, also known as El Pescaílla. He was Romani. The couple had three children, actress and singer Lolita Flores (María Dolores González Flores), singer and actor Antonio Flores, and Rosario Flores, a two-time Latin Grammy Award-winning singer and actress. Her sister was Carmen Flores, who was also a singer, and whose son is football player and coach Quique Sánchez Flores. Lola and Antonio are the grandparents of actresses Alba Flores and Elena Furiase.
Lola’s paternal grandfather was named Juan Flores.
Lola’s paternal grandmother was named Dolores Pinto.
Lola’s maternal grandfather was Manuel Ruiz Dorado (the son of José Ruiz and Amalia Dorado). Manuel was possibly Romani descent.
Lola’s maternal grandmother was María Rodríguez Misa (the daughter of Domingo Rodríguez and Aurora Misa).
