María Jiménez is a Spanish singer, who started her career in tablaos (flamenco taverns) as María La Pipa. Her career was relaunched when she collaborated on the song La lista de la compra with the group La Cabra Mecánica and released Donde más duele, with songs by Joaquín Sabina.

María was born in the Triana neighbourhood, Seville, the daughter of a man surnamed Jiménez from Nerva, Huelva, and a woman surnamed Gallego from La Pedrosa, Cádiz. She has had two children, including a son with her former husband, actor José Sancho.

María’s paternal grandfather was a Romani man named Baltasar Jiménez.
