Laurence Fishburne is an American actor, playwright, producer, screenwriter, and film director. He has had leading roles in the films Apocalypse Now, What’s Love Got to Do With It, Akeelah and the Bee, and The Matrix.

His mother, Hattie Bell (Crawford), was a mathematics and science teacher. His father, Laurence John Fishburne, was a juvenile corrections officer. He was raised mostly in Brooklyn, New York.

Laurence has four children, including two with his former wife, actress Hajna O. Moss, and a daughter with his former wife, actress Gina Torres. Among his children with Hajna is actor and ballet dancer Langston Fishburne.
