Laura Harrier is an American actress and model. She is known for her roles in the films Spider-Man: Homecoming, BlacKkKlansman, Fahrenheit 451 (2018), Balance, Not Symmetry; The Starling (2021), and White Men Can’t Jump (2023), and on television’s One Life to Live and Hollywood. She has been the face of Garnier and an ambassador for Louis Vuitton, and has also modeled for Urban Outfitters, Macy’s, Steve Madden, Bulgari, Calvin Klein, and Boss. She often speaks about civil rights and equality issues.

Laura was raised in Evanston, Illinois, the daughter of Linda, a speech therapist, and Temujin Harrier, who works in insurance. Her father is black and her mother is white.

Laura’s maternal grandfather was John Sagan (the son of John Sagan and Mary Jubinsky). Laura’s grandfather John was born in Ohio, to Rusyn parents, with his own father being from Nastasiv, Ternopil oblast, Ukraine.

Laura’s maternal grandmother was Margaret Joy Pickett (the daughter of Bishop Jarrell Waskom Pickett and Ruth Robinson). Margaret was born in Lucknow, India, the daughter of American parents, who were Methodist missionaries. Laura’s great-grandfather Bishop J. Waskom Pickett was a Methodist minister and philanthropist, and was the son of Leander Lycurgus Pickett and Ludie Carrington Day. Ruth was the daughter of John Wesley Robinson and Sarah Elizabeth “Lizzie” Fisher.

    Ruthenian —> Rusyn

    They are the same thing, so it’s better to stick to one word. I also don’t understand why some celebrities have “Rusyn/Ruthenian” in their ethnicity. That’s like writing “Scottish/Scotch”.

    There’s a Malanka Sagan arriving in 1910 from Nastasiv, going to see her brother Iwan Sagan in Monessen, Pennsylvania . According to the record she’s Ruthenian. Her father is Luka Sagan.
