Kevin Mayer is a French athlete. In decathlon, he has been the world junior champion, in 2010; a two-time Olympic silver medalist, in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020; a two-time world champion, in 2017 and 2022; and a world record holder, since 2018. In heptathlon, he became a world indoor champion in 2018, and is a three time-European champion.

Kevin was born in the commune Argenteuil, northwest Parisian suburbs, the son of Carole and André Mayer. He has Yenish ancestry. His father was raised in Farschviller, in the north-eastern region of Lorraine, and has family from the Moselle department. Kevin grew up in the small town La Roche-de-Glun, by the Rhône, in Drôme department, southeast France.
