and iberian people scores british a lot, due to her british ancestry they probably mixed around

    • follers says:

Thank you. More 23andme tests, please, if people have them.

      • andrew says:

Those tests are a waste of money IMO. “French&German”(wtf), “broadly Northwestern European” are not the epitome of accuracy.

        • follers says:

How are they a waste of money? At least 23andme. Look at the results for Ty Burrell, Bill Maher, Patricia Arquette, Alan Dershowitz, Maya Rudolph, etc.

They even picked up Perry’s Iberian ancestry.

23andme were very accurate with Rudolph, and they picked up Burrell’s African ancestry almost precisely:

23andme also gave me a lot of fun facts non-related to my ethnic origins!

          • passingtime85 says:

23andme is by the far the most accurate of the three major commercial DNA testing companies. 23andme does have a few caveats however. One, most people don’t realize that their default results are actually the least accurate as the ethnic composition is set to the speculative setting, there is an option to tally the results to more conservative levels that greatly improves the accuracy using only the most verifiable ethnic DNA markers.

Two, the results update several times after the first two to three months after receiving your initial results. Most people seem to think it’s one and done. That is not the case. I’d wager Katy is one of those users.

She doesnt look iberian, and her iberian ancestors is irelevant as i always knew. She looks northern european to me and she is natural blonde.

          • luckystar says:

You would be happy if this girl wasnt fully european. This site is full of POC people trying to see the exotic in white people.

        • Alice says:

@Andrew – They are really good and quite accurate. 23andMe is the best of the big dna companies.

If you want to read about the categories I think Eupedia has a good write up.

          • andrew says:

they might be “good and accurate”, but they’re meaningless for phenotypes. For example an Ashkenazi Jewish person can look identical to a German one (or a Southern European can look like a Northern European) despite the different genetic make-up.

Katy is natural blonde and looks very british to me, in 2008 i used to mistake her for Lily allen

  3. savanna says:

Someone should condense the ethnicity down to something like:
“Ethnicity: English, Irish, Portuguese, smaller amounts (to varying degrees) of German, Scottish, Scots-Irish/Northern Irish, Welsh, French, and remote Manx/Isle of Man”

  4. madman says:

Katy’s father also had Irish, Scottish, Scots-Irish (Northern Irish), Welsh, and remote Manx ancestry. Also, she has ancestors with the surname Ammonet, which probably is French.
