Kate Berlant is an American stand-up comedian, actress, and writer. Her roles include the films Sorry to Bother You, Little Bitches, Happy Anniversary, Duck Butter, After Class, and Don’t Worry Darling, and the series Search Party and A League of Their Own.

Kate is the daughter of performer Helen and sculptor and artist Tony Berlant (born Anthony Hanna Berlant).

Kate has been described as “an Angeleno with Jewish-American and Spanish artist parents.” Kate’s mother has also been said to be a first-generation American, with Spanish and Cuban parents.

Kate’s paternal grandfather was named Emmanuel Berlant (the son of Moses Berlant and Anna). Emmanuel was born in Israel, to a Russian Jewish father and an Israeli Jewish mother.

Kate’s paternal grandmother was Gertrude Sands (the daughter of Jacob Sands and Ida Finkelstein). Gertrude was born in New York, to Russian Jewish parents.
