Jessica Alba
Birth Name: Jessica Marie Alba
Place of Birth: Pomona, Los Angeles, California, United States
Date of Birth: April 28, 1981
Ethnicity:
*father – Mexican [including Spanish, Indigenous Mexican/Mayan, distant Sephardi Jewish and African]
*mother – Danish, Welsh, English, Scottish, Scots-Irish/Northern Irish, French
Jessica Alba is an American actress, model, and businessperson. Her roles include the films Camp Nowhere, Idle Hands, Honey, Frank Miller’s Sin City, Fantastic Four (2005), and their respective sequels; Good Luck Chuck, The Eye (2008), Meet Bill, Valentine’s Day, Machete, and its sequel; Little Fockers, Spy Kids: All the Time in the World, and Mechanic: Resurrection, and the series The Secret World of Alex Mack, Dark Angel, and L.A.’s Finest. She has co-founded consumer goods company The Honest Company, which sells baby, personal, and household products. She has also been billed as Jessica Warren, her married name.
Jessica is the daughter of Catherine Louisa (Jensen) and Mark David Alba, who was in the Air Force. Her father, who was born in Los Angeles, is of Mexican descent, including Spanish, Indigenous Mexican/Mayan, and distant Sephardi Jewish and African, roots. Her mother, who was born in Virginia, has Danish, Welsh, English, Scottish, Scots-Irish/Northern Irish, and French, ancestry. She was raised partly in Biloxi, Mississippi; Del Rio, Texas; and finally Claremont, California, traveling for her father’s career.
Her brother is actor Joshua Alba. Jessica is married to producer Cash Warren, with whom she has three children. Cash’s father is African-American and his mother is white. Jessica’s third cousin, once removed, is writer Gustavo Arellano.
Jessica has described her father as very dark and her mother as very fair. According to Jessica, her grandfather never spoke Spanish at home because he wanted the family to assimilate into the American mainstream. As a result, Jessica’s father did not learn to speak Spanish.
A DNA test whose results were displayed on the show Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. (2014) stated that Jessica’s genetic ancestry is:
*72.7% European
*22.5% East Asian/Native American [Indigenous Mexican]
*2.4% No Match
*2.0% Sub-Saharan African
*0.3% Middle Eastern/North African
*0.1% South Asian
Jessica has stated that she identifies with her Mexican-American heritage. DNA tests on the show indicated that Jessica’s direct patrilineal ancestor was Indigenous. These DNA tests also displayed that Jessica’s father’s direct matrilineal ancestor, Maria Carmen Carrillo/Carillo, was of Sephardi Jewish descent. They also showed that Jessica’s father likely has at least 2.1% Sephardi Jewish ancestry in total. DNA matches listed him as 0.7% Ashkenazi; they also listed him as 0.6% Italian, 0.4% North African, and 0.4% Middle Eastern, all of which were or likely were Jewish in his case according to DNA matches.
Jessica’s 0.1% South Asian DNA is evidently from Jessica’s mother’s side.
Genetically, Jessica was found to have a common ancestor with attorney Alan Dershowitz.
Jessica’s paternal grandfather is José Sánchez Alba (the son of Catalino Morones Alba and Francisca/Frances Sánchez). José was born in San Bernardino, San Bernardo Co., California, to Mexican parents. Catalino was born in San Dimas, Durango, the son of Ambrocio/Ambrosio Alva/Alba and Maria Morones/Morence. Francisca was born in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, the daughter of José Hipólito/Polito Sánchez Hernandez and Refugio/Refugia Cisneroz/Rangel.
Jessica’s paternal grandmother is Ysabel/Isabel Martinez (the daughter of Daniel Fernandez Martinez and Guadalupe Nieves Miranda y Lares). Isabel was born in San Bernardino County, California, to Mexican parents. Daniel was born in Purépero de Echaíz, Michoacán, the son of Eugenio Martinez and Pascuala/Pasquala Fernandez. Guadalupe was born in García, Zacatecas, the daughter of Juan Miranda and Silveria Viramontes/Miramontes y Lares.
Jessica’s maternal grandfather was Harry Christian Jensen, Jr. (the son of Hans/Harry Christian Jensen and Sarah/Sara Evelyn Rhys). Jessica’s grandfather Harry was born in Rockford, Winnebago, Illinois, and served in WWII and the Korean War. Jessica’s great-grandfather Hans was born in Illinois, to Danish parents, Mads Hansen Jensen and Johanna Jensdatter. Sara was born in Minnesota, to a Welsh father, Samuel H. Rhys, and to a mother, Evaline/Evelyn/Eva Walbridge, who was born in Rochester, Monroe, New York.
Jessica’s maternal grandmother was Louisa Harrison Tebault (the daughter of Paul Miars/Myers Tebault and Catherine/Catharine Louisa Nichols). Jessica’s grandmother Louisa was born in Washington, D.C. Paul was the son of William Paul Tebault and Julia S. Catherine was the daughter of Albert Nichols and Loula Harrison Wharton.

I guess she was supposed to be partially black in the movie Honey. Just a random thought…not saying that she’s partially black in real life.
At least she said that she wants her daughter to be able to speak Spanish.
Why are full white girls never called “exotic”? Double standard?
….Because we are english speaking, from America, or some other predominantly “white” country. Exotic means foreign… Why would we call someone from, or appearing to be from the same places as ourselves foreign? Oh, right. Because they aren’t…
I think it’s in mainly white countries like Europe, North America and Australia where white is probably the norm and looks less exotic, but if you put a Pale, blonde/red/ or even dark haired person with blue/green/grey/hazel eyes in Asia, Africa or South America they would DEFINITELY look exotic because most people in them countries have black hair, brown eyes and dark skin. I mean it’s under 10% of the world’s population that has blue eyes and I’m guessing that most blue-eyed people are white so yes white people are very exotic!
“think it’s in mainly white countries like Europe, North America and Australia where white is probably the norm and looks less exotic, but if you put a Pale, blonde/red/ or even dark haired person with blue/green/grey/hazel eyes in Asia, Africa or South America they would DEFINITELY look exotic because most people in them countries have black hair, brown eyes and dark skin”
Totally not true Holly, I have seen alot of people from parts of africa and Asia that have Green/hazel and even blue eyes, it may be rare but there are people of “full” African or Asian ancestry that have light eyes, light hair and fair skin. I know a full “black” African couple whos child has blue eyes and light hair.
@Highlandgirl HAHAHA LOL science disagrees with you
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-511473/All-blue-eyed-people-traced-ancestor-lived-10-000-years-ago-near-Black-Sea.html#ixzz1dxShFrR0
Everyone with blue eyes can be traced back 10,000 years to the Black Sea region, most likely Romania, the reason blue/green eyes can very rarely be found in sub-Saharan Africa is due to Roman soldiers breeding with the locals lol
*fact*
Because is you think the Americas are white people’s lands? GTFOH that’s what that thief Columbus wanted to make you believe bcs America ain’t yours hun. You’re not called exotic simply bcs you’re not exotic you’re plain piece of white paper with no clor, no flavor, flat butt, thin lips….
What is up with the extremely racist comment? I did not know Ethnic condoned racism like this.
I knew this site was a piece of trash from the beginning.
Bc they’re plain
Who cares. Looking “exotic” isn’t the same as looking good.
She is dumb then what color is an American ?
She is 87% white. Which obviously is majority. Dont matter weather she looks it or not, the truth is. SHE IS WHITE!
Not really. Those 87% doesn’t represent genes, but overall DNA based on junk DNA, which is by far the majority of our DNA. This applies to all low cost tests you can get – low cost is 150-300$ tests. So, they don’t even represent the relevant genetic material, but an irrelevant overall comparison. Not to mention that it is a low resolution test, which is a problem with extremely segmented DNA which could be the case with Alba’s DNA, since she probably has deep Mexican ancestry.
Furthermore, a test like this is an estimate, which I believe most testing facilities and companies also states in their material. So, you CANNOT conclude that she is 87% white (especially since there’s no such genetic entity called “white”) based on this test. You can safely assume that she’s mostly of European descent, since her mother presumably is Danish/French ancestry, and her dad is Mexican of mixed ancestry. But that’s about all.
Personally, I’d say she’s a mixed person, since the mix is visible in her. Her DNA test doesn’t have any real value in this. Instead it makes people on the Internet deny her self identification, which is absurd.
@Jimenez lol you know there estimates are 99% accurate? stop making excuses, the women is white.
I don’t think that Alba’s result is far from reality, but I just don’t think it matters. If she is not seen socially as white by the people she meet, then she’s not white. It’s as simple as that.
Obviously, she’s not a Native American either, but she’s just a mixed person, and it can be seen if you look at her that she is mixed, although she can almost pass as “white”.
There’s no such thing as “white” in genetics or anywhere else in biology anyway, as I said above. “White” is entirely a social construct, and a color. It doesn’t even mean the same thing depending on who you ask. You cannot detect “whiteness” in the DNA; the test they used claim to test four ancestral groups, European, Native American, Sub-Saharan African and East Asian, not “white”. The European ancestral group even includes unrelated peoples from outside of Europe (look at the link below). It was just Lopez who said it means “white” but actually it doesn’t.
This is the test, DCC’s ancestry test, Ancestry by DNA.
http://www.ancestrybydna.com/ancestry-by-dna-faq.php
In that link are some of their claims about AIM’s – a dubious method in this case, with the segmented DNA she probably has. This is due to a phenomenon called crossover and the complex way we inherit DNA/Genes. The test in question simply cannot compensate for this, it’s impossible with the 176 chosen markers. Just the fact that we have 2 x 22 chromosomes + two sex chromosomes shows that there simply must be cases where this test fails.
Notice that I don’t say that her ancestry is any more or less Indigenous American, I just say that the test is inaccurate under some circumstances, and it’s nowhere near 99% accurate, as you claim. It may be in some cases, but certainly not in all cases. It has been proven to show ancestry which isn’t there at all, and that has been confirmed by disgruntled customers who have tested their DNA by other companies as well. It’s also clear that the smaller the part, the greater the inaccuracy! I’m sure a 50/50 first generation Native Lakota and European English mix will produce a true result, 50% European, and 50% Native American. It may even correctly predict the admixture rate if you have a 3xgreat grandparent who is Native, and the rest is mono ethnic English. The problem is when you have a minor component which is mixed over many generations from a very large number of ancestors. In that case there’s NO WAY you can detect the ancestry accurately with 176 AIM’s. The markers themselves will show the ancestry they represent, but it will not necessarily correlate with the distribution of actual admixture in the entire genome.
ok Jimenez ur really fucked up no offense but jessica alba is not even that dark so shut up ok.and she does not have fish lips here lips are normal. shes 87% white and 13% aboriginal, PERIOD end of conflict. her friken “dark like the night“ dad, is mexican white and native so shut the fuck up the woman is mixed. shes not more aboriginal ok. no matter what refrence u give she mixed european and native so stop says she so dark cuz shes not. she have olive skin and she dosnt have fish lips jessica alba is a wannabe latina cuz shes just making lies up about kids making fun of her. she dosnt look dark, she dosnt look white. I CLOSE MY CASE, AND I WIN
Nanan: Not that I wrote what you say I wrote, but at least I din’t write “Cuz” – I rest my case.
Yes, Rita it does matter what she looks like. If you don’t look black you don’t look black. Conversely, if you don’t look white you don’t look white. That means that if she truly was 87% white she would look white, don’t you think?
That is true.
Was it her “white DNA” which made people tease her for her dark(er) skin in school?
–> No, it was the way she looked.
Was it her “White DNA” which made the other kids call her fish lips?
–>No, it was the way she looked.
And of course the knowledge that she was Mexican. She was not seen as white socially, so she was not white. She was treated with the same kind of racism all other non-whites are treated with. So her experience was that of a non-white person, with the exception that she was also treated badly by the group she belonged with in theory, the Mexicans/Hispanics (according to herself).
Even if she had tested 100% European in that test, she would still have the experience of a minority woman. As white only has meaning in a social context, she wouldn’t be white, because she has not been treated as white, and she has the experience of a non -white, IE a person of color. So that’s what she is.
“White” is just a social construct. Sophia Loren is European, specifically of Italian descent, and she said that while she was in school, the other “white” kids used to pick on her because the thought she looked Arab.
True, and let’s not forget how Alba really looks in candids, especially when she’s tanned, like I presume is the case here(?):
http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/637/whitey.jpg
People judge by what they see, not by some theoretical knowledge. Nobody knew any of that when she grew up anyway.
But ‘nicey’ the thing is she does look white. I dont understand why people think she doesn’t. Or at least where i come from we just look like that.
But she does look white. Im only saying that soon as she is over 50% white. If someone was 87% black, do you think we would be having this conversion right now? She would be seen as black so i dont see why there is such a deal out of the fact that she is nearly completely white!
Most latinas look like her just look at her skin color+lips+nose= native american or indigenous+european=Mestiza/Hispanic/Latina whatever , it’s the same , mixed race
No…they don’t. lol That’s like saying most Black girls look like Garbrielle Union or Rihanna… Wishful thinking.
Or like saying most white girls look like Heidi Klum or Sandra Bullock……Wishful thinking.
Or like saying most yellow girls look like Zhang Ziyi or
Hyori Lee……Wishful thinking.
Dont go all stereotype now thats not true, well maybe some but dont say most cuz not everyone is the same
