George Burns was an American comedian, actor, singer, and writer. He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for The Sunshine Boys (1975).

George was the son of Dorah (Bluth) and Louis Lippe Birnbaum, who were Austrian Jewish immigrants. George was married to entertainer Gracie Allen, as part of the duo Burns and Allen. The couple had two children, who were adopted, including actor Ronnie Burns.

George’s paternal grandfather was named David Birnbaum (the son of C. Bine). David was born in L’viv, Lwów, Galicia, Austro Hungarian Empire.

George’s maternal grandfather was named Isadore Bluth.

George’s maternal grandmother was named Gertrude Rosenblum.
