Gary Jules is an American singer and songwriter. He is known for his “Mad World” cover for the film Donnie Darko, with Michael Andrews.

Gary is the son of Mary and Gary Aguirre, an attorney. His brother is attorney Mike Aguirre.

Gary’s paternal grandfather was Jules/Julio Ernesto Aguirre Arino (the son of Felix Adolpho Francisco de Borja Aguirre y Olozaga and Ignacia Maria Louisa Arino y Cenzano). Gary’s grandfather Jules was born in Cristobal, Panama, to Spanish parents. Felix was born in Madrid, the son of Ernesto Aguirre y Bengoa and Julia Olozaga y Canizarez.
