Eddie Cantor was an American comedian, actor, dancer, singer, songwriter, film producer, screenwriter, and author. He helped develop non-profit organization March of Dimes. He was President of the Screen Actors Guild, from 1933 to 1935.

Eddie was the son of Meta/Maite and Mechel/Michael Iskowitz, an amateur violinist. His parents were Jewish emigrants from Russia/Belarus. He was also called Izzy and Itchik. He was married to Ida Tobias, until her death, with whom he had five children.

Eddie’s maternal grandfather was named Abraham Kantorovitz/Kantrowitz/Kanterovich (the son of Arka-Aron Kantorovitz and Chaya). Arka-Aron was the son of Leml Kanterovich and Pesya. Chaya was the daughter of Yosel.

Eddie’s maternal grandmother was Esther Lazorwitz (the daughter of Javel Lazorwitz and Mindel Abramowitz).
