Ed Lauter was an American actor and stand-up comedian. His roles included the films Family Plot, King Kong (1976), Magic (1978), Cujo, Real Genius, Death Wish 3, Youngblood (1986), School Ties, Thirteen Days (2000), Not Another Teen Movie, and Seabiscuit.

He was the son of Sally Lee, who had acted on Broadway and was also a dancer, and Edward Matthew Lauter/Lauther. He was raised in Long Beach, New York. His father was born in Pennsylvania. His mother was born in Louisiana.

Ed was married to Wanda “Future” Fulton, until her death, and to Mia Roberts Lauter, until his death. He had two children with his second wife Jennifer Holmes; and one child with his third wife Marnie Melissa Savion.

Ed’s paternal grandfather was named Charles Lauther. Charles was German.

Ed’s paternal grandmother was named Elizabeth. Elizabeth was German.

Ed’s maternal grandfather was Edmond Patrick McKenna (the son of Maurice Leon McKenna and Mary Josephine Corcoran). Edmond was born in Louisiana, to Irish parents. Maurice was born in Kerry, the son of Edmond/Edmund Patrick McKenna and Ellen Stack. Mary Josephine was born in Blanchardstown, the daughter of James Corcoran.
