Eartha Kitt was an American singer, actress, dancer, comedian, activist, author, and songwriter. She is known for playing Catwoman on the 1960s series Batman.

Eartha’s mother, Mamie/Annie Mae Kitt, was African-American. Mamie was also said to have Cherokee Native American ancestry, although it is not clear if that is accurate. Eartha’s biological father was said to be white. Eartha stated that she was often made fun of because of her light skin while growing up in the South.

Eartha had a daughter with her former husband, businessperson John William McDonald.

Eartha’s maternal grandfather was named William Keitt (the son of Delia Keitt). Delia was the daughter of Hilliard Keitt and Catherine.

Eartha’s maternal grandmother was named Fanny Riley.

Eartha’s biological father may have been Daniel Richard Sturkie. He is named as such in the book America’s Mistress: The Life and Times of Miss Eartha Kitt, 2013, by John L. Williams. Daniel’s ancestry included Swiss-German, English, German, Scottish, French, and Creek [Muscogee] Native American.

Daniel’s father was Calvin Richard Sturkie (the son of Richard Benjamin Sturkie and Jerusha Jeffcoat). Richard was the son of John Casper/Caspar Sturkie and Martha Ann Rickenbacker. Jerusha was the daughter of The Rev. Elijah Liege Jeffcoat/Jefcoat and Jerushia/Jerusha “Dollie”/Dolly Hoover.

Daniel Sturkie’s mother was Josephine Caroline “Jo” Hutto (the daughter of Daniel Ansel Hutto and Ann Caroline Williams). Daniel’s grandfather Daniel Hutto was the son of Nicholas Hutto and Susanna Grubbs. Ann was the daughter of The Rev. John Elmore Williams and Mary Wolfe.

I never knew she was mixed either. She does have very thinner facial features and she has light skin. Although it’s possible to be biracial and not look it. Have you seen her daughter she looks almost 100% white. So Eartha’s white blood skipped her generation and showed up in her daughter. That how DNA works. You have to realized when you write your opinion people like the person below me are going to be sensitive. This is a sensitive subject for some people. It doesn’t mean so much to me because I’m comfortable with who I am; there are always people who might not agree with you believe in you or just be plain ignorant to things but guess what that’s life. There are more important things to get upset I about. In my opinion race is not one of them. Your comments to someone who maybe be ignorant or just stating what they feel aren’t going to make them see a new light. 9 times out of 10 they will still think what they want so it’s best to get over it!

Hey,I was going to say something about your comment at first bu then I thought about it. I’ve heard tis before and it always puzzled me how people can always say someone just looks Black when they say they are mixed. I realize it’s because A: most people think that all Black people are mixed with White. B: Anyone with darkskin is Black. C: There aren’t any other people in the world besides Blacks and Whites and you have to look White to be mixed. You said Black and not African so I understand what you mean because she doesn’t look African.
