A-Trak is a Canadian hip hop and electro DJ, turntablist, record producer, and music label executive. He won the world DMC championship at the age of fifteen, and has gained mainstream fame as Kanye West’s tour DJ. Since then, he has produced music for various rap and dance artists. He was half of electronic music superduo Duck Source, with fellow DJ and producer Armand van Helden; and was part of turntablist group Invisibl Skratch Piklz, with Mix Master Mike. He is also known as DJ A-Trak and Trizzy.
A-Trak is the son of Lison, a professional translator, and Elliot Macklovitch, a professor of linguistics, and machine language researcher. His father is of Russian Jewish descent and his mother is of Moroccan Jewish ancestry. His brother, David “Dave 1” Macklovitch, is a member of oelectro-funk duo Chromeo. A-Trak was raised in Outremont, Montréal.
