Didi Gregorius is a Dutch professional baseball player. A shortstop, he has played for the Cincinnati Reds, the Arizona Diamondbacks, the New York Yankees, and the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball (MLB). He is nicknamed “Didi.”

He is the son of Sheritsa Stroop, who played for the Netherlands women’s national softball team, and Johannes Gregorius, a carpenter and professional baseball player, who pitched for the Amsterdam Pirates of the Honkbal Hoofdklasse, the Dutch professional baseball league. His family moved to Curaçao in 1995 for his father’s baseball career. Didi speaks English, Spanish, Dutch, and Papiamento, a Portuguese-based creole language spoken in the Dutch Caribbean.

Didi’s paternal grandfather was named Antonio. Antonio was a baseball player, who pitched in four games for the Netherlands Antilles at the 1955 Pan American Games.
