Candace is the daughter of Barbara and Robert Cameron, a schoolteacher. Her brother is actor, evangelist, and television host Kirk Cameron.

Candace’s paternal grandfather was George Wilmer Cameron (the son of George William Cameron and Florence May Nash). Candace’s grandfather George was born in New York. Candace’s great-grandfather George was born in New York, to Scottish parents, Daniel Cameron and Helen Bisset Harley. Florence was the daughter of Frank Nash and Florence Vonguhoof.
