Brad Bird is an American film director, animator, screenwriter, producer, and voice actor. He has had a career spanning forty years in both animation and live-action, particulary in Pixar productions. He has directed the films The Iron Giant, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Tomorrowland, and Incredibles 2. He also wrote his The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and Incredibles 2, the first two of which were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay; and co-wrote his The Iron Giant and Tomorrowland. He also co-wrote the film *batteries not included.

Brad was born in Kalispell, Montana, the youngest of four children of Marjorie Ann and Philip Cullen Bird, who worked in the propane business. Brad was partly raised in Corvallis, Oregon. He and his children have had voice roles in his films.

Brad’s paternal grandfather was Francis Wesley “Frank” Bird (the son of Francis John Bird and Frances/Fanny Cullen). Brad’s grandfather Francis was born in Sligo, County Sligo, Ireland, and emigrated to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with his mother when he was eight. He was president and chief executive of the Montana Power Company.

Brad’s paternal grandmother was Zoe Bertha Duncan (the daughter of Rufus Volney Duncan and Laura Emma Luik). Zoe was born in Missouri. Rufus was born in Moniteau, Missouri, and was of Colonial American (English) descent. Laura was born in Clermont, Ohio, and was of German descent.

Brad’s maternal grandfather was Floyd M. Cross (the son of Dillion H. Cross and Elizabeth Rebecca Brinkley). Floyd was born in Colorado or Iowa. Dillion was the son of Lewis Cross and Susanne/Susanna Mauldin/Maudlin. Elizabeth was born in Lewis, Missouri, the daughter of John Henry Brinkley and Cassander/Cassandra Caroline Mann.

Brad’s maternal grandmother was Edith G. Helen Culver (the daughter of Charles Oliver Culver and Mary Jane Rice). Edith was born in Illinois, to parents of Colonial American (English) descent. Charles was born in Knox, Illinois, the son of John/Jonathan Segur Culver and Elizabeth Shelton Brasfield. Mary was born in Morgan, Illinois, the daughter of Albert A. Rice and Mary A.
