Bernie Williams is a Puerto Rican professional baseball player and musician. A center fielder, he played his sixteen-year career in Major League Baseball (MLB) with the New York Yankees, from 1991 to 2006.
Bernie is the son of Rufina, a principal and college professor, and Bernabé Williams Figueroa, Sr., a merchant marine and dispatcher. He was raised in The Bronx and San Juan, Puerto Rico. He has three children with his wife Waleska.
Bernie’s maternal grandfather was Rufino Figueroa Colón (the son of Abraham Daniel Figueroa and Guadalupe Colón).
Bernie’s maternal grandmother was Cristina Concepción Ortíz (the daughter of Juan José Concepción Ortíz and Mercedes Ortíz).
