Adam Laxalt is an American attorney and politician. A Republican, he served as Attorney General of Nevada, from January 5, 2015 to January 7, 2019.

He is the son of Michelle Laxalt and attorney and Republican Party politician Pete Domenici (Pietro Vichi Domenici). His father was Mayor of Albuquerque, from October 1967 to March 1970, and a U.S. Senator from New Mexico, from January 3, 1973 to January 3, 2009. Adam’s maternal grandfather was Republican politician and attorney Paul Laxalt, who was Governor of Nevada, from January 2, 1967 to January 4, 1971, and a U.S. Senator from Nevada, from December 18, 1974 to January 3, 1987.

Adam was born to a single mother. At the time, his father and maternal grandfather were senate colleagues, from nearby states; and his father was married. Adam was raised under his mother’s name. The identity of his father was not publicly revealed until 2013.

Adam is married to Jaime, with whom he has four children.

Adam’s paternal grandfather was named Cherubino Domenici. Cherubino was born in Modena, Emilia-Romagna, Italy.

Adam’s paternal grandmother was named Alda Vichi. Alda was born in Modena.

Adam’s maternal grandfather was Paul Dominique Laxalt (the son of Dominique Laxalt and Therese Alpetche). Paul was born in Reno, Nevada, to Basque parents, from Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. Dominique was born in Laguinge-Restoue, the son of Pierre Laxalt and Marie Etchart. Therese was born in Saint-Étienne-de-Baïgorry, the daughter of Jean Bassus and Jeanne Alpetche.

Adam’s maternal grandmother was Jackalyn Margaret Ross (the daughter of John Rolly Ross and Margaret L. Burns). Jackalyn was born in Yerington, Nevada. John was the son of John Ross, who was Irish, and of May, who was born on Prince Edward Island, Canada, to an English father. Margaret was the daughter of James Henry Burns and Katherine/Catherine Shea, who were the children of Irish parents.
